Karla M Campião

I am an ecologist interested in the association between organisms. My research is focused mainly on investigating the parasitism in amphibians, but we are also studying other systems to understanding the variables associated with host-parasite interaction. I teach at Universidade Federal do Paraná, and advise students in the Ecology and Conservation and Zoology graduate programs.

Elvira D’Bastiani

I am PhD student in Ecology and Conservation (2018-2022) at Universidade Federal do Paraná. During my master’s degree (2016-2018) I was interested in understanding how host habitat and biological traits influence the structure of antagonist interacting networks. Now during my PhD I want to combine different analytical methods to understand host-parasite association more deeply, investigating systems that include different amphibian symbionts such as hemo, endo, and ectoparasites.

Amanda Dudckaz

I have always been interested in animal life and interactions. So, in my PhD project I decided to dive deep into parasitology, seeking to better understand the invisible interactions between parasites and their hosts. My project search to answer the following question: How does foraging behaviour affects parasite infections in anurans? This will allow us to better understand how parasite-host interaction and foodweb trophic links are related. I also want to develop a noninvasive protocol, using molecular approaches, to identify parasites and diet itens.

Gabriel M. De La Torre

I’m PhD student in Ecology and Conservation at Universidade Federal do Paraná (2018-2022). I study avian blood parasites and I’m interested in understanding the role of environmental factors in the community assembly of hemoparasites and their hosts. I hope to contribute with the knowledge of vector-borne parasites ecology and epidemiology, which can be a useful tool in issues regarding public health and biodiversity.

Cauê Pinheiro Teixeira

I am a Master’s student in ecology and conservation at The Universidade Federal do Paraná (2018-2020). My main goal as an early career researcher is to discover how interactions between parasites and invasive species may be affecting native communities and impacting ecosystems. For that, my Master’s will be analyzing how environmental factors may be influencing the acquisitions of parasite by the invasive anuran Lithobates catesbeianus. Then, I will be able to better understand which factors can influence the acquisition and introduction of parasites in non-native locations and its implications.

Lorena Euclydes dos Santos

I am a master’s student in Zoology at the University Federal of Parana. I am interested in parasite-host interactions, especially with anurans. I seek greater knowledge of parasitic diversity and a better understanding of how this diversity is shaped.
